BURHANIDESIGN was commissioned to renovate a 100+ year old multifamily building to accommodate the needs of a growing family. This building is located in the city’s Little Italy neighborhood and required extensive renovation to make it’s spaces more efficient for use for the growing family as well as add an In-law apartment in the basement for rental purposes
We duplexed the first and second floor units and added an additional bedroom suite at garden level in the rear. The interiors are a blend of contemporary finishes to suit the heritage vibe of the location but still meet the needs of a large family.
BURHANIDESIGN is especially proud of the green roof we installed, one of the first-ever on a residential multi-building in Little Italy which reduce rain water run-off and carbon emissions for the structure providing thermal efficiency to reduce energy bills.
We also created an energy-efficient HVAC system and floor heating for many sections of the home. The Overall spaces suited well for the family making it their permanent home for years to come.
