MASTER PLANNING

Experienced and Friendly

Master planning, playground architecture Chicago

At BURHANIDESIGN, we take master planning so seriously that we’ve set up a separate studio so we can focus on it completely. A master plan creates the framework that will define the project from pre-design to post-occupancy – from design theme to structure, from permissions to zoning analysis, the master plan covers it all.

The goal of creating a master plan is to make sure that all stakeholders have communicated their priorities and that the project is designed to meet all requirements. For large-scale projects like playground architecture, social spaces, educational campuses, or parks, it is especially important that the design blends seamlessly into the community, the neighborhood, and the environment.

However, master planning is also important for smaller projects like residential developments or commercial developments. It allows the architects and the client to zoom out and view the project from all perspectives. This enables us to provide a comprehensive solution that meets all requirements, both present and future.

For some projects, a master plan may also include projected costs, material estimates, and timelines. This is useful when working on projects like playground architecture or houses of faith, where daily visitors may be restricted from entry for the duration of the project. Knowing how long the space will be off-limits allows the visitors to make alternative plans for that time.

When we work on projects, we use a master plan to ensure the sustainability of the project. It is of primary importance to us that the spaces we design are environmentally compatible, especially large open spaces like playground architecture and parks or recreation spaces. We enjoy the challenge of using innovative solutions to design spaces that include natural elements, renewable energy, and invite in elements like light and fresh air.

Thanks to our master planning studio, we are able to provide detailed advice on compliance and regulatory issues, land use planning, urban development, zoning analysis, and transit oriented development.
